Saxophonist, composer and teacher Mornington Lockett first came to prominence with the Ronnie Scott Quintet in the 1990’s before releasing four critically acclaimed albums of his own, winning the 2002 British Jazz Award for Best Small Group. One of the UK’s great sax players Mornington’s Special Guest is trumpeter Martin Shaw. Widely regarded as one of the finest jazz trumpet players in Europe Martin’s powerful yet wonderfully fluent playing has been heard with the likes of Sting, Natalie Cole, John Dankworth and Cleo Laine. A featured soloist with the BBC Big Band his melodic improvisations and warm, fluid, sound are universally admired.
