Music at No.5 Presents : Live Jazz - Thelonious Monk Tribute

Thelonious Monk Tribute will be playing the album 'Straight No Chaser' along with some other Monk favourites and arrangements.

The band are made up of:

Sabina Turvey on bass, Coren Sithers on sax, Elliot Warburton on piano and, Liz Exell on drums

All of them are recent graduates of Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, except Liz who is a tutor there.

Liz is a Parliamentary Jazz award and Jazz FM award winning drummer and composer who has toured the world, broadcast for BBC TV and Radio and performed for theatre in Wales and London. Liz has played every genre of jazz, from Jelly Roll and early Ellington with her Old Hat Jazz Band, bebop and Mingus whilst in London, and was part of the band Nerija, the members of which were key catalysts in the "london jazz explosion". Liz is an active member of South Wales Improvisers at Shift/CARNEDD; is a visiting tutor at RWCMD and trainee music therapist at USW. This Monk tribute features some of the most original past RWCMD students.
