Recently crowned ‘Musician of the Year’ at the MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards, Ciorstaidh Beaton is known for her rich sound, innovative arrangements and fearlessly driven style of harping. She is a highly sought after pedal harpist, clàrsach player, educator and Gàidhlig speaker based in Glasgow. Since Graduating ten years ago from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, she has built a multi-genre freelance portfolio that uniquely shapes her as one of Scotland’s leading in-demand artists.” Community is at the heart of Ciorstaidh’s New Voices programme. Writing became a place of refuge to her during life altering experiences in recent years. Inspired partly by her native community of Kilmuir on Skye, and by the community surrounding her today. She touches on the importance of gathering together during times of difficulty, on women’s roles within communities, the struggles and frustrations facing rural and city living, and on building her own community. Joining Ciorstaidh on stage are a stellar line-up of friends and colleagues; Patsy Reid, Alice Allen, Pàdruig Morrison, Charlie Stewart, Phil Hague and Lana Beaton
