Only Hope & The Escape Artist

Only Hope & The Escape Artist are two perspectives on the same story The Russia Ukraine war. The performances centre around themes of conflict, displacement and survival. The deeply personal stories of two young Ukrainian women, underscore the fragility of the human condition and the impact of war in the 21st century. Anastasiia Todchuk (19) and Tatiana Novokhatnia,(25), share their experiences through autobiographical performance, to highlight the reality of war and the personal impact of fear, grief and loss. Both their lives changed overnight in February 2022 when Russia attacked Ukraine. Independently, they ended up in a foreign country for their own safety, separated from family, friends and everything that was once taken for granted. Only Hope and The Escape Artist inject a sense of hope and aspiration from the darkest of subject matter.
