Details
PLAY 4 is our annual new writing night where we invite five brilliant North East writers to have 15 minutes of their work performed as part of a rehearsed reading by a cast of professional actors in our Studio Theatre.
We asked our writers to send us in pieces that make us care about people, past and present from the North East – and they did not disappoint. PLAY 4 gives you a chance to see their work in it’s earliest stages, with the opportunity to leave feedback and thoughts after the show. One of our writers will also be awarded the Peter Lathan Prize for New Writing with £2000 worth of in-kind support from The Customs House. This may be, but isn’t exclusive to, rehearsal space, staff time or use of facilities.
Introducing this year’s excerpts and their superb writers, we have:
Sugar, Sugar by Janet Plater
One Hundred Oxen by Andrew Thompson
Healing by the Hyem by Sarah Rumfitt
The Runners by Tom Kelly
Paper Gulls by Owen Saunders
Our PLAY 4 extracts will be directed by Natasha Haws.
This is a Pay What You Decide event.
