Details

Our annual keynote lecture to mark Armistice Day. During WW2 women were conscripted into the armed forces for the first time whilst others took on a diverse range of roles on the Home Front. For Armistice Day 2024 we will remember the essential contribution of women at this time as spies, pilots, munitions workers, land girls, lumberjills and many more. The list is endless! Linda McDonald is a former teacher and a member of Edinburgh Living History, based in Lauriston Castle. She has in interest in researching women’s history.
