Robert Burns: Fickle Fortune - the Joy of Scottish baroque

Details

Elspeth McVeigh is joined by Andrew Liddle on baroque fiddle, to sing and play the music of 18th centurty Scotland - music which fascinated, intrigued and inspired contemporary composers.

Music which has been passed down for nearly 250 years for its exuberant joy, pulling the strings of the heart, and recognising the strength of the traditional in poetry, music and song.

Mendelssohn, Giminiani, Haydn and Purcell, share the stage with the great anonymous Scottish composers during this delightful hour of music, followed by refreshment and chats with Elspeth and Andrew.
