Scarborough Symphony Orchestra's February Concert

Details

FELIX MENDELSSOHN The Hebrides Overture

DOREEN CARWITHEN Suffolk Suite

WALTER ROSS Concerto for Double Bass

FRANK BRIDGE Dance Rhapsody

GEORGE BUTTERWORTH The Banks of Green Willow

FRANZ LISZT Hungarian Rhapsody No.2

Our inspiration for the February concert is the popular BBC radio programme 'Friday Night is Music Night'. Light popular works are featured, with Doreen Carwithen's A Suffolk Suite joining Mendelssohn's overture The Hebrides and George Butterworth's The Banks of Green Willow. Max Lamprecht is a former member of the orchestra and is currently a Masters student at Trinity Laban Conservatoire. He joins us to perform Walter Ross's Concerto for Double Bass - this is a rich and warm post-romantic work full of beautiful, haunting melodies. Frank Bridge's Dance Rhapsody and Franz Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody No.2 complete tonight's line-up.
