Skipton Camerata: A Northern Score

Poet Ian McMillan and composer Ben Crick pay tribute to 20 celebrated Northerners in words and music.

This year marks Skipton Camerata's 20th anniversary - we've been around for a score of years! To mark the occasion, Skipton Camerata has commissioned broadcaster and poet Ian McMillan and composer Ben Crick to create A Northern Score, the story of how the North of England has struggled, thrived and ultimately been defined. Through music and poetry, A Northern Score portrays the lives and deeds of 20 remarkable individuals from the middle ages to the present who have shaped and influenced the region.

Ian McMillan is the narrator in this the first performance of A Northern Score conducted by Ben Crick.
