Slowing Down to the Speed of Light - Jacqueline Harris

Details

“Slowing Down to the Speed of Light” explores an adult ADHD diagnosis through a playful and provocative tale of a woman untangling a lifetime of stories while a girl from the future with a battered case, an old hat and an ancient map, searches for an ancestor lost in faerie.

Close by, a minstrel plays a song she’s never heard before and the Lady of the Lake keeps a promise. New stories are up for grabs and there are choices to be made, but will it be too late?

Storyteller, Jacqueline Harris, weaves the threads together with recorded original music composed for the show by the Norwegian cellist Maja Bugge.

Images and artefacts created by Dutch artist, Marjan Wouda.

Mise en Scene by Bob Frith, founder of Horse and Bamboo Theatre Company.

Dramaturgy with storyteller, Dominic Kelly

Adult ADHD, particular in older women, is a hot topic right now, with good reason, as these women finally have an opportunity to reassess their lives. Jacqueline was herself diagnosed two years ago. This show brings together folktales of difference and belonging, personal narrative and scientific research, exploring what happens when our old stories unravel, and where the facts of a diagnosis end and the stories begin.
