Celebrated mythologist, author and wilderness guide Martin Shaw invites us to use ancient stories to help find ‘a commons for the imagination, a place to breathe deeper, feel steadier and become acquainted with rapture.’ For the paperback release of his new book Smoke Hole, Martin will dive into some of his favourite myths, showing how they can be powerful tools to help us face the complexities of contemporary life.

This event is part of his Smoke Hole Sessions podcast series.

Dr Martin Shaw is an acclaimed teacher of myth and author of several books including Bardskull, which was named a Guardian Book of the Day. He founded the Oral Tradition and Mythic Life courses at Stanford University, and is director of the Westcountry School of Myth in the UK. He has introduced thousands of people to mythology and how it penetrates modern life. For twenty years Shaw has been a wilderness rites of passage guide, working with at-risk youth, those who are unwell, returning veterans as well as many women and men seeking a deeper life.

Presented by Conway Hall.

This is an all ages event. Under 16's must be accompanied by an adult.
