Berlin-based, Peruvian-Greek producer and singer-songwriter Sofia Kourtesis is an artist that elicits colorful imagery and dreamlike soundscapes throughout her work. With a growing number of international accolades, Kourtesis conjures up music that is both inspired by her native Peru and crafted for her home in Berlin. Having worked at many levels in the industry, from booking events at clubs in Hamburg and Berlin, to DJing fashion events and international nightclubs, Kourtesis has now firmly established herself as a singular artist with an impassioned, spiritual vision.
Starting out on Axel Bomans Swedish imprint Studio Barnhus, Kourtesis output originally wavered within the realms of ethereal deep-house, using fragments of samples and vocal cues to create subtle, organic phrases within her work.
Hot of the back of the release of her debut album 'Madres' we welcome Sofia for an intimate set in our basement. When she began work on the album, Kourtesis was seemingly unstoppable. A string of rapturously received EPs and singles made her one of the fastest rising stars in the electronic world. She graced the cover of Mixmag, released a brilliantly energetic and moving RA Session, appeared on End of Year lists from the likes of The New York Times, Pitchfork, DJ Mag and Spotify and played instant sell-out shows at Londons Lafayette and Manchesters YES as well as standout performances at Glastonbury, Wide Awake and Primavera and tours supporting Caribou and Bicep.
