Details

In his new work, Konx-Om-Pax exploits the shared ways in which electronic music and visual art can be programmed to generate an immersive work where the visual and the auditory feed off one another. Are real-time modulations in the synthesiser soundtrack prompting changes in imagery? Or is it the seething of these restless organic patternsthats sparking variations in sound? Uaxuctum holds the audience at the point of singularity where the boundaries between what we see and hear dissolve, resulting in a thrillinglysynaesthetic experience. A Cryptic Commission 2024. Developed at Arthouse Jersey. Fusing the ancient with the modern, Riccardo Giovinettos FEMINA sets splinters of Renaissance paintings and processed snatches of polyphonic madrigals against contemporary electronica and visuals to explore traditional notions of beauty. It samples artworks by Botticelli, da Vinci and more, then teases them apart and scrambles thembeyond recognition, as if an AI has been confounded by the attempt to establish a universal definition of beauty. The abstract visual and sonic outcomes suggest a new aesthetic existing in the eye of a remote, possibly post-human beholder. Supported by The Italian Cultural Institute, Edinburgh.
