In 1995, Space Monkeys became the last ever band to sign to the legendary Factory Records, the pioneering Manchester label that had shaped music history with acts like Joy Division, New Order, and Happy Mondays. Blending Britpop swagger with funk, dub, and electronic beats, the band crafted a sound that was as gritty as it was euphorica perfect soundtrack for the last days of the 20th century. Their debut album, The Daddy of Them All, was a bold statement of intent, producing the breakout single Sugar Canea track that broke into the Top 50 of the US Billboard Hot 100 and earned the band international acclaim. Three decades on, Space Monkeys remain a vital part of Manchesters rich musical tapestry. They return to celebrate 30 years with a special show at Band on the Wall, on Valentines Day, Friday the 14th of Februarya fitting date for a band whose songs are drenched in the bittersweet rhapsody of love, heartbreak, and unrepentant northern hedonism.
