Stories of People and Trees

Details

Following a SELL-OUT PREMIERE at The Hidden Gardens, Glasgow in 2023, Glisk is thrilled to bring the enchanting music of Stories of People and Trees on tour across Scotland!

This unique project began in 2022 when CELLIST JESSICA KERR set out to collect stories about cherished trees from people across Scotland. As the stories grew, so did a deeply moving collection—tales of a lone SCOTS PINE inspiring a photographer, a steadfast ROWAN, a tiny CHERRY, and a GLASGOW GINKGO offering shade to a diverse community. These are stories of love, memory, resilience, and beauty, all rooted in our deep connection to nature.

COMMISSIONED BY GLISK, SEVEN COMPOSERS HAVE TRANSFORMED THESE STORIES INTO STUNNING NEW MUSIC FOR STRING QUARTET—each piece as unique and diverse as the trees themselves, spanning a range of styles and genres.

Interwoven with heartfelt reflections and personal narratives, Stories of People and Trees is a moving and uplifting musical celebration of our connection to the natural world.

JOIN US FOR A PERFORMANCE THAT BLENDS MUSIC, STORYTELLING, AND NATURE IN A TRULY MAGICAL WAY.
