Details

The Festival Sinfonia Strings return to the Minster in a celebration of English music which spans the centuries.

They are joined by Mark Padmore for Finzi's sublime settings of the 17th century poet, Thomas Traherne. The baroque poise of Locke's beautiful canons are juxtaposed by the contemporary world of Finnis, who in turn takes his inspiration from William Byrd. Britten created a virtuosic showpiece for strings based on a theme composed by his own teacher, Frank Bridge. Connections abound in this thrilling programme which will surprise and delight in equal measure.
