Stuart Murdoch & David Keenan with Vic Galloway

Details

Enter a world of songs and stories as we chat to Scottish writers who are passionate about music alongside musicians who’ve also written books. Best known as lead singer-songwriter for Glasgow-formed Belle and Sebastian, Stuart Murdoch has been a mainstay of the Scottish music scene for decades. Now turning his hand to novel writing, Nobody’s Empire narrates the tale of a young musician trying to make it whilst living with chronic fatigue syndrome. A celebration of the magic that happens when ordinary people make music together, Stuart shares his passion for storytelling and plays us a few tunes. David Keenan is the author of six critically acclaimed novels including the cult classic, This is Memorial Device, and Dublin Literary Award shortlisted Xstabeth. Volcanic Tongue is the first collection of his music writings from the years he co-ran a Glasgow record shop of the same name, including exclusive interviews with Nick Cave and others from the scene. David joins us to share his passion for the revolutionary music of the 20th Century, and how this connects to his writing. Don’t miss this melodious discussion hosted by DJ and music broadcaster, Vic Galloway.
