Takács Quartet

Details

This concert is one not to be missed featuring the world-renowned Takács Quartet now entering its forty-ninth season. Founded in Budapest, Hungary they are currently Associate Artists at the Wigmore Hall, London and Artists-in-Residence at the University of Colorado, Boulder, U.S.A. They first performed at MCCS in 1985 and they return with the same opening Haydn quartet Opus 76/4. A BBC Music Magazine review of their recent recordings of Haydn said One thing is certain about this new recording by the Takács Quartet: you will not hear better string quartet playing anywhere in the world today. They will also perform Benjamin Brittens Second Quartet, written in 1945 to celebrate the 250th anniversary of Purcells death and Dvoraks Slavonic Quartet, which has been described as the perfect fusion of classical style and Bohemian folk spirit.
