Details

Join us on Sunday September 29th to find out more about Tetbury’s history as a wool town as a warmup for our Wool Fair on October 20th.

There is a reason why we celebrate with the Woolsack Races!

There was a time when wool from Cotswold sheep was in demand around the world and if you're coming to our talk on the Cotswold Wool industry (on September 25th) you will hear about how wool money was essential for beautiful churches and mansions in places like Fairford and other market towns.

Much of Tetbury’s wealth in those days came from sheep and wool and many of the oldest houses in town had connections in one way or another to the trade. Join Jane Haines from the History of Tetbury Society to find out why this building had an intriguing story to tell!

Join Jane at The Goods Shed at 2pm for a one gentle stroll around town. Tickets just £3 (plus booking fee) and money will go towards further research on the town's history
