The Communication. Cord by Brian Friel
Footlights is delighted to bring Brian Friel’s classic farcical comedy to Craic’s stage this November. One of Friel's most hilarious plays, The Communication Cord is set in the fictional village of Ballybeg in County Donegal. The story follows Tim Gallagher, a shy academic, who tries to win over his girlfriend's father: an Irish senator, by passing off his friend Jack's traditional Irish cottage as his own. As you might expect, this small lie quickly spirals into chaos. With a host of comical characters including the meddlesome neighbour Nora Dan, the friendly local German: Barney the Banks and Jack’s latest conquest the French beauty Yvette Giroux this production promises to thoroughly entertain. This amateur production of “Communication Cord” is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd on behalf of Samuel French Ltd. www.concordtheatricals.co.uk
