The Devil's Mark: The Story of the Scottish Witch Trials

Details

Ayrshire’s Theatre Alliance bring you their brand new show ‘The Devil’s Mark.’ Our story follows the journey of four Scottish women, all hailing from different parts of the country, who found themselves accused of witchcraft during the Scottish witch hunts throughout the 16th & 17th centuries.

It is estimated that around 4000 people were accused of witchcraft in Scotland and message from the Church at the time was clear - Scotland was a land under threat from Auld Nick and his handmaidens – his witches!

Everyone had a responsibility to hunt them down but those accused were just ordinary women and men who found themselves victims of the atrocities and injustices of the witch hunt practices in Scotland.

The Devil’s Mark tells the tale of widespread panic, hysteria and suspicion.

Please note this production features themes of violence and parental guidance is advised.
