The Doppler Effect

Fresh from their Festival de Marseille performances, this stunningly original piece of theatre returns to Belfast and charts one gay man’s journey through the rain filled streets of the city. A search for fast sex on a dance floor mixes with mathematical philosophy, obsessive compulsion and Ingrid Bergman’s beauty.

Created by double Ivor Novello nominated Conor Mitchell, this genre busting work places a dancer, actor and chamber ensemble inside a multimedia projection box that comes to life with some of theatre’s most contemporary video designs by Belfast artist Gavin Peden.

This new production was originally produced by The Belfast Ensemble in partnership with Festival de Créations Queer Contemporaines TRANSFORM! And Outburst Arts at the Festival de Marseille as part of the British Council’s UK/France Spotlight on Culture in association with Culture Ireland.
