The Lost Voice tells the story of a shy little girl called Whisper and her struggle to find her voice. It begins with a visit to the doctor, who writes heran odd note saying “sometimes it takes a while to find your voice”.

Her Book of Everything tells her that everyone has a ‘voicebox’. Thinking her voice must be out there in a box somewhere, she sets off on a journey to find The Voice Box. On the way, she is swallowed by a lion, has a bumpy ride on a grumpy horse, rescues a crew of stranded Norwegian fishermen, swims with a dolphin and flies on an eagle’s back – only to discover she had a voice all along! The Lost Voice is a staged production aimed initially at children aged 8 and under – but entertaining enough for kids from 0 – 80.

It is performed by two actors and one beatboxer, who work together as a company, in which an actor becomes a beatboxer and a beatboxer becomes an actor…where a child can become an animal and an adult can become a child. The Lost Voice relies on the active involvement of the audience, and is an expression of everyone’s desire to make themselves heard.
