The McDades with Cua

Details

Punching through the walls of tradition, The McDades deliver Celtic-rooted music fused with the spontaneity of jazz improvisation and infectious global rhythms.

At the heart of the group are siblings Shannon, Solon, and Jeremiah, who grew up playing Canadian folk music alongside their parents and among artists from around the world. Their ground-breaking compositions and innovative arrangements are characterised by stunning virtuosity and a near-telepathic interaction on stage.

Irish trio Cua debuted at Celtic Connections in 2019 with a sold-out performance, signalling their growing popularity. They’ve since released a fifth album, gained wider acclaim, and completed a major European tour.

In October 2024, they released a tribute single for Shane MacGowan of The Pogues, honouring his influence. Having played with a Pogues tribute act, Cua's version of "The Auld Triangle" is a heartfelt, sombre farewell to the iconic musician.
