A fun and free beginner's African drumming workshop for the whole family hosted by CJ. The event is free but we will charge a £3 deposit per person which you will be reimbursed on arrival. If you do not attend, you will not be refunded. This workshop is in Whitefriars Shopping Centre, Whitefriars Square, Canterbury and is a part of Summer Celebration, Canterbury City Show. Please arrive 15 minutes early.
In this workshop, you will learn some rhythms from West Africa, as well as playing some drumming games and having lots of fun! All abilities and ages welcome! Drums are provided, but feel free to bring your own.
CJ is a full time teacher by day (music specialist and Lead Teacher in an autism provision), musician by night and a workshop leader at the weekends and holidays!
A singer songwriter, CJ also plays keyboards/ piano, guitar, ukulele, flugel horn/ trumpet & specialises in the drum kit/ percussion (has spent time in West Africa), and gigs and runs workshops at venues and festivals all over the UK. CJ also runs many open mic nights every month in the Canterbury area where she promotes local talent, from beginners to professionals!
