Wilmslow Symphony Orchestra Autumn Concert 2024

Nielsen : Helios Overture Grondahl : Trombone Concerto Sibelius : Symphony No.2

The concert will begin with Nielsen's Helios Overture, inspired by the sun and warmth of the South and named after the Greek god of the sun. Our principal trombonist, Gareth Brown, will play the dramatic Trombone Concerto, composed by the talented Danish composer and conductor Launy Grondahl. The final work in the concert will be the most popular of the Sibelius symphonies, Symphony No.2. We are delighted to welcome Alec Frank-Gemmill to conduct the concert.
