Details

Discover the sound of the Polish Renaissance with this stunning 17th-century choral piece by Mikołaj Zieleński.

The prize-winning Wrocław Baroque Ensemble specialises in music from the Polish Renaissance and Baroque eras. Dedicated to bringing forgotten music to a wider audience, they bring to life a little-known epic choral work.

Under the baton of Andrzej Kosendiak, one of the most active organisers of musical life in Poland, the Wrocław Baroque Ensemble vividly recreates the sounds of Renaissance Poland. In their recital, they present a stunning 17th-century choral work performed on historically accurate instruments.

The life of Polish composer Mikołaj Zieleński remains a mystery to modern audiences, but the few works he left behind are imbued with stunning charm. The ensemble have hand-picked a variety of pieces from his substantial Offertoria et Communiones totius anni, a group of some 117 individual pieces dating from 1611, ranging in mood from celebratory to solemn.
