On this day 37 years ago Grammy award winning album was born into the world, self-titled 'Tracy Chapman' - 1988. Often praised for its powerful social commentary, particularly regarding issues like poverty and domestic violence with poignant and poetic lyrics, Chapman's strong vocal tone and topics of discussion are timeliness and prove relevant even her themes even today, despite the album's classic folk-style production it stood out against the popular music of the late 80s.
